Every year on Invention Day, April 18 (the anniversary of the Patent Monopoly Act, issued as the first substantial patent law in Japan on April 18, 1885), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Japan Patent Office announce the recipients of the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Awards and the Commissioner of the Japan Patent Office Awards. Collectively referred to as the “Intellectual Property Achievement Awards,” these awards include the Award for Excellent Corporation Utilizing the Intellectual Property Rights System, presented to corporations that have most effectively taken advantage of the intellectual property rights system and contributed to its development.

Lux Awards 2017 “Highly Commended” to Nichia’s Direct Mountable Chip LED

On November 16, 2017, Nichia was awarded the “Highly Commended” at LUX Awards 2017 in London,organized by Lux Live and the Lighting Industry Association (LIA). Nichia’s product, DirectMountable Chip, was competing in the “Enabling Technology” category and was rewarded for itscreativity and sustainability in lighting enabling new solid-state lighting designs from its innovative LED package technology.
