Lawsuit with Major US Residential Electric Lighting Fixture Manufacturer Ended in Business Arrangement

NICHIA CORPORATION concluded that LED-application products marketed by a former NICHIA customer, Intermatic, Inc., incorporated White LEDs infringed at least one of NICHIA's U.S. patents.

On January 24, 2006, NICHIA filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware alleging that certain White LED-application products (such as LZ21813KA) marketed by Intermatic infringed NICHIA's U.S. patent (U.S. Patent No. 5,998,925). As part of the lawsuit, Nichia requested that Intermatic discontinue marketing products containing these White LEDs.

As Intermatic agrees to respect Nichia's Intellectual Property, Nichia and Intermatic have agreed to enter into a business arrangement and the issues raised in Nichia's lawsuit have been resolved.
