Nichia Files a Patent Infringement Lawsuit in the U.S.

2010.9.13. -- Nichia Corporation announced today that it filed a lawsuit against Wilmar Corporation, a U.S. corporation, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The lawsuit alleges that the defendant is infringing several patents held by Nichia relating to LED technology. In the lawsuit, Nichia seeks an injunction against and damages for the alleged infringement.

In the Complaint that commenced the lawsuit, Nichia alleges that the defendant is infringing two Nichia patents directed to white LEDs (U.S. Patents Nos. 5,998,925 and 7,531,960) and two Nichia patents directed to LED chips (U.S. Patents Nos. 5,652,434 and 6,093,965).

Nichia seeks to protect its patents and other intellectual property rights and takes actions against alleged infringers in any country where appropriate and necessary.
