TRG acknowledged Nichia’s Claims in a Patent Infringement Lawsuit in Germany concerning white LEDs

As previously announced, on November 10, 2010, Nichia Corporation (“Nichia”) filed patent infringement lawsuits in Germany at the District Court Düsseldorf against German distributors for certain products of Harvatek Corporation (“Harvatek”). In the lawsuits, Nichia claims that two different Harvatek white LED products (serial numbers HT-V116TW and HT-U158TW) sold by those distributors infringe Nichia YAG patent ( EP936682[DE69702929] ) and seeks an injunction, damages, recall and destruction. ( Nichia files Patent Infringement Lawsuits against Harvatek and several Distributors in Germany )

Among those distributors, on January 18, 2011, The Republic Group Handelsvertretung GmbH (“TRG”) acknowledged Nichia’s claims in the early first hearing at the District Court Düsseldorf, and stopped selling the above mentioned Harvatek products.

Nichia seeks to protect its patents and other intellectual property rights and takes actions against alleged infringers in any country where appropriate and necessary.
