Nichia files YAG patent infringement lawsuit seeking injunction and damages against Brazilian affiliate of ASUS

On November 13, 2019, Nichia Corporation (“Nichia”) filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the Judicial District of the Capital of the State of São Paulo against ASUS DO BRASIL (ACBZ IMPORTACAO E COMERCIO LTDA.), a Brazilian affiliate of Taiwanese company ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (“ASUS”).

In the lawsuit, Nichia claims that Brazilian affiliate of ASUS infringes Nichia’s Brazilian YAG patent PI9710792-1, seeking an injunction and damages caused by the accused infringement. Nichia’s Brazilian YAG patent has not expired, and is still in force.

The products that Nichia accuses in the lawsuit are light emitting diodes present in mobile phones Zenfone 3, Zenfone 3 Max, Zenfone 3 Zoom and Zenfone Max Pro M1.

Nichia seeks to protect its patents and other intellectual property rights and takes action against alleged infringers in any country where appropriate and necessary.
