Nichia Filed Patent Infringement Lawsuit in South Korea

Recently, Nichia Corporation filed a lawsuit against a Taiwanese company and a South Korean company that has been doing business with the Taiwanese company in South Korea, based on Nichia's reasonable belief that the two companies have been conducting activities infringing on Nichia's patent for a technology related to the manufacture of LED. Nichia is trying to bar the Taiwanese company from importing to and selling in South Korea products that use this patented technology.

The asserted patent is related to a technology that induces vapor growth of gallium nitride-based semiconductor utilized in manufacturing LED. Nichia currently holds a valid patent for this technology in South Korea.

Nichia Corporation plans to continue to take appropriate worldwide actions toward any possible infringing company so as to safeguard its patents and other intellectual property rights in the future.
