Nichia Begins Using a New Taping Reel with Less Plastic
Tokushima, Japan – 26 February 2026: Nichia, the world's largest LED / Laser Diode manufacturer and inventor of the high-brightness blue and white LEDs, is pleased to announce that, as part of its sustainabLED™ initiative to reduce environmental impact, Nichia has begun using a new taping reel that reduces plastic usage.
By optimizing the structure while maintaining the same level of strength and usability as conventional reels, a thinner and lighter plastic reel has been implemented. This leads to the reduction in weight during product transportation and contributes to lower CO2 emissions associated with logistics, as well as a reduction in plastic waste.
