Nichia will exhibit and speak at MDSM 2023 in Orlando, FL

On February 1st and 2nd, Nichia will proudly exhibit at the 2023 Motor Drive & Systems / MAGNETICS (MDSM) Conference in Orlando, FL. Additionally, Paul File, Senior Account Manager, Nichia America, will speak about Nichia’s bonded SmFeN magnetic materials on Wednesday, February 1st.

As rare earth prices (Nd, Dy, Eu, etc) continue to rise and supply chain issues persist, it is critical to find alternatives and implement wholistic solutions for various magnetic and motor needs. The focus of this conference is to showcase recent advancements in magnetic materials and motor drive technology. MDSM is hosted as a dual conference providing synergy between magnet and motor design.

Nichia will proudly exhibit its full portfolio of compounded magnetic materials with a focus on its bonded SmFeN, which boasts process and performance advantages versus conventional rare earth materials. Nichia promises to continue work toward developing improved magnetic material grades with higher surface flux density, superior intrinsic coercivity, and reduced cost on a system level.

Conference Date & Time:
2023 February 1 8am – 5pm ET
2023 February 2 8am – 12pm ET
Venue: DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld
Nichia Booth: #110
Products on display:Nichia’s Bonded SmFeN Magnetic Materials

Speech Details:
Date & Time: 2023 February 1 at 3:30pm ET
Presenter by Paul File (Senior Account Manager, Nichia America)
Title: "Samarium Iron Nitride – The Next Big Thing in Magnets"
Nichia will speak about the benefits specific to Samarium Iron Nitride (SmFeN) as a new bonded magnet material which does not contain Nd, Tb, Dy or Co. Advantages of this new highly spherical magnetic powder include oxidation-resistance, high heat, water and rust resistance. Additionally, as it is capable of injection molding, waste materials are recyclable. Nichia will address specific comparisons to the currently used Nd bonded and sintered magnets through various case studies.
